I have worked in the Student Success Centre at the University of Regina for about five years. During that time I have helped to implement many new programs designed to help students succeed at university. Our programs are holistic in nature. Our goal is to help them find academic success, get involved in their community, gain leadership skills, and give back to the community. My current goal is to find ways that I can use technology to better connect with students individually, and also improve the Student Success Centre’s programs and services. The photo below (left) is of one of our Student Success Workshops.
I am also a mom to an 8 year old boy (in photo above right) and a step-mom to a 14 year old. I already feel a bit out-of-touch when it comes to the technology that they are using. I want to make sure that I stay up to date so that I can connect with my kids, and also help them to make good choices. I play Pokemon Go with the youngest, and actually sort of understand Minecraft, but I know there is a lot more out there that I will need to know about.
